My Services

Hire me to create a one-of-a-kind pattern featuring your brand’s materials and unique market position.

Independent design to support your community with premium pattern writing

As an independent pattern designer and formally trained art educator, I love working with fellow creative businesses to publish patterns that are a true collaboration, celebrating my strengths as a writer and your unique role in the maker community.

These patterns are written in partnership with one another: I provide the design, writing, and formatting while you lend a creative vision and, in many cases, featured materials. Please note that I do not license my existing patterns for shared or external publication. My patterns may only be purchased in my online store, Etsy shop, or Ravelry shop.

FAQs

What brands have you worked with in the past?

My past collaborations in the fiber community have included:

  • Katia Yarns exclusive crochet pattern in Sock Lovers United 2 e-book

  • YarnYAY! subscription box featuring Stitchery & Co. sock soap

  • Love Embroidery Magazine featured embroidery pattern & tutorial in Issue 44

  • Sock Week 2022 exclusive enamel pin design and Sock Week 2023 exclusive Stitchery & Co. sock soap for Knitty Natty

What are your fees and project timeline?

Most brands connect via email with a request for a specific embroidery or crochet pattern. It’s helpful if you have a theme in mind, but I’m happy to hop on a kick-off call to determine the pattern’s focus. Please note that I do not license my currently published patterns for sale via third-party marketplaces, subscription boxes, etc. All brand collaborations must be for the purpose of creating new content.

Once I understand the project’s scope, I’ll share a proposed budget and timeline for your review and contract preparation. Most projects can be completed in 4-6 weeks, including pattern design, writing, editing, and testing.

My project fees typically start at a flat $750 and increase depending on the publishing and licensing agreement. I do not accept store credit or product in exchange for my work. Fee exceptions may be made when working with printed publications.

What brands are you looking to work with?

I’ll be blunt: I’m picky about who I choose to work with. (It’s one of the biggest perks of being self-employed!) I’m only interested in collaborating with folks who share my beliefs in ethical labor practices and pay attention to the impact their products have on the people and world around them. Do good where you can, as much as you can.
