As a crochet and embroidery designer, I create highly-detailed, recipe-style patterns filled with step-by-step photo tutorials free from medium-specific jargon or presumptions of prior experience. When you stitch up one of my projects, I’ll be there every step of the way, decoding the process and equipping you with the expertise needed to modify, perfect, and love your work.
Value-Packed Printable Patterns
FOR CreativesAll About Printable Patterns
Each of my printable PDF patterns is designed to be easy to read (size 12 font, black text, white background), with minimal jargon or abbreviations. I write as though I’m teaching a good friend, so you’ll find each pattern packed with tips to help you along the way! All patterns are written in American English with US terms.
-
The step-by-step photo tutorial is included after the written pattern; I recommend either printing out the entire pattern and placing the pages side by side so you can view the photos and text at the same time, or printing only the written pattern and referencing the photos on your device as needed.
Unless otherwise specified in a listing, you should be familiar with basic crochet stitches (slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, etc.). I teach intermediate and advanced stitches using written explanations within the pattern and may link to external video tutorials. All crochet patterns include a detailed supply list and full instructions from start to finish.
-
The photo tutorial is embedded within the pattern directly, with close-up photos intended to help you see each section of the project more clearly. I teach all stitches used in a pattern at the beginning of each PDF; each stitch technique includes both a written explanation and illustrated tutorial.
All embroidery patterns include a detailed supply list (including links to my preferred small businesses that sell my favorite hoops and fabrics!), a complete list of all DMC thread colors used in the design, a black and white traceable pattern, an illustrated color guide, and detailed instructions on how to begin and finish your hoop.
Learning-By-Doing
When you pick up one of my patterns, you’ll be doing it for yourself, not by yourself.
Unlike most patterns available today, my patterns do not use standard shorthand or expect you to be able to “read” a pattern in the traditional sense. Instead, my instructions are always fully written out, so you’ll encounter minimal abbreviations or jargon.
For example, here’s a sample “standard” crochet pattern row instructions: Ch2, sc, [2dc, sc, sk, sc]. Rpt across and turn. In my writing style, the pattern will read: Chain 2, then single crochet into the first stitch of the previous row. For the remainder of the row, you will crochet the following stitch pattern: place 2 double crochet stitches into the same stitch, single crochet into the next stitch, skip the next stitch, and then single crochet into the next stitch. You will end the row with a single crochet stitch. When you reach the end of the row, turn your work. (Makes sense, right?)

etsy review“O.M.G! I really have to give Allison a ton of kudos and credit. The instructions are SO straightforward and insanely easy to read/follow. She makes it easy even for a beginner like myself to create socks. Thank you for ‘translating’ this crochet pattern to easy-to-follow, readable instructions!”

When I first learned how to crochet in college, I was quickly overwhelmed by the craft’s shorthand, constant abbreviations, and vast range in pattern quality (some were awesome, but many more were obviously neither tested nor proofread!).
That’s why I set out to start publishing my own patterns. When I create something I love, and I think others will, too, I draft the pattern, optimize it for user ease, and thoroughly test it to ensure my instructions are clear, exhaustive, and understandable (with plenty of illustrations and/or photos to supplement the written pattern).
