As a crochet and embroidery designer, I create highly-detailed, recipe-style patterns filled with step-by-step photo tutorials free from medium-specific jargon or presumptions of prior experience. When you stitch up one of my projects, I’ll be there every step of the way, decoding the process and equipping you with the expertise needed to modify, perfect, and love your work.

All About Printable Patterns

Each of my printable PDF patterns is designed to be easy to read (size 12 font, black text, white background), with minimal jargon or abbreviations. I write as though I’m teaching a good friend, so you’ll find each pattern packed with tips to help you along the way! All patterns are written in American English with US terms.

Learning-By-Doing

When you pick up one of my patterns, you’ll be doing it for yourself, not by yourself.

Unlike most patterns available today, my patterns do not use standard shorthand or expect you to be able to “read” a pattern in the traditional sense. Instead, my instructions are always fully written out, so you’ll encounter minimal abbreviations or jargon.

For example, here’s a sample “standard” crochet pattern row instructions: Ch2, sc, [2dc, sc, sk, sc]. Rpt across and turn. In my writing style, the pattern will read: Chain 2, then single crochet into the first stitch of the previous row. For the remainder of the row, you will crochet the following stitch pattern: place 2 double crochet stitches into the same stitch, single crochet into the next stitch, skip the next stitch, and then single crochet into the next stitch. You will end the row with a single crochet stitch. When you reach the end of the row, turn your work. (Makes sense, right?)

Accessible Art Education

No one enjoys squinting — I get it! Each of my PDF patterns is designed to be easy to read (size 12 font, black text, white background) and may be printed out or accessed on your device. Please note that you will need Adobe Acrobat on your device to open each PDF. Each listing clearly states the PDF pattern’s total page count, so you know exactly what you’re getting into.

Crochet Patterns: The step-by-step photo tutorial is included after the written pattern; I recommend either printing out the entire pattern and placing the pages side by side so you can view the photos and text at the same time, or printing only the written pattern and referencing the photos on your device as needed.

Embroidery Patterns: The photo tutorial is embedded within the pattern directly, with close-up photos intended to help you see each section of the project more clearly.

Digital Downloads: Once your purchase is complete and payment has been confirmed, your files will be available for download in your Order Confirmation page. You will also automatically receive an order confirmation email, followed by an email containing a link to the file. This link will expire 24 hours after you purchased. If you click an expired link, I’ll automatically send a new link to the email address used for the initial purchase.

“O.M.G! I really have to give Allison a ton of kudos and credit. The instructions are SO straightforward and insanely easy to read/follow. She makes it easy even for a beginner like myself to create socks. Thank you for ‘translating’ this crochet pattern to easy-to-follow, readable instructions!”
