For the Love of Blankets
I first learned to crochet in college, inspired by my dear Aunt Patty (who gifted the most gorgeous crochet afghans for milestone birthdays) and because it seemed like an easy enough hobby to pick up and put down. (There also might have been a yarn sale at the local Michaels, which really nudged me over the edge!) After college, I paused crocheting, mainly because the cost of yarn was unmanageable as a recent grad-turned-MA-student. It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my daughter that I returned to crocheting, drawn to the world of baby blankets. There was something so calming and reassuring about creating a gift for my child — like a way of saying “hello” while waiting to meet her! I drafted this granny square pattern, creating a solid square and two corresponding heart designs. This blanket never turned into a pattern, but it did launch my Rainbow Bobble Blanket design.
